Itinerary

See the day-by-day itinerary below.

You arrive in the beautiful coastal town of Menton, not far from the Italian border. Depending on your arrival time, we recommend a leisurely stroll along the seafront promenade, through the old town, and the lovely parks.

Hotel (example): Hôtel Lemon

Today you will experience two of the Riviera’s best-kept secrets. From Menton, a short 30-minute bus ride takes you up to the charming village of Gorbio, idyllically surrounded by centuries-old trees and perched high above the sea. Here your hike begins, leading you through a landscape where the scents of the Mediterranean blend with alpine flora – a delightful mix of sun-drenched scrubland and cooling pine forest.

The trail takes you from Gorbio to the enchanting medieval village of Roquebrune, where narrow lanes and ancient stone houses cling to the mountainside. Both villages offer terraces with sweeping views of the glittering Mediterranean – perfect spots to pause, take a deep breath, and simply enjoy the moment.

The hike ends with a gentle descent to the coast, where you follow the sea between Roquebrune and Menton – a beautiful and atmospheric way to round off the day. You finish back in Menton, where you spend the night at the same hotel.

Hotel (example): Hôtel Lemon

A short bus ride takes you to Sainte-Agnès – a charming mountain village overlooking the sea. After a short stroll through the village, the trail leads up to the summit of Mont Baudon (1,266 m), where you are rewarded with a magnificent 360° view of both mountains and sea. From here, you descend to Peille, another authentic gem of a village. A taxi then takes you from Peille to La Turbie, a picturesque hilltop village at 500 meters, famous for the impressive Trophy of Augustus towering above the town. Overnight stay in a hotel in La Turbie.

Hotel (example): Hotel Napoleon

There is time to explore the historic town center and visit the Roman monument before continuing. Leaving the village, you follow a balcony trail through the Grande Corniche Nature Park – a vast protected area where rockroses, junipers, and wild orchids thrive alongside the colorful ocellated lizard and birds of prey. Within the park lies the Maison de la Nature, housed in a former military building, featuring exhibitions on the region’s geology, wildlife, and flora.

The route then passes Fort de la Revère – a stunning panoramic viewpoint over the entire Côte d’Azur and a renowned spot for observing bird migrations. The descent brings you to Èze, a medieval village perched at 429 meters, where cobbled lanes wind between stone houses and small artisan workshops. At the summit, the exotic garden showcases a remarkable collection of succulents.

The day concludes with a dramatic descent to the sea along the steep Nietzsche Path, once walked by the philosopher himself during his stays in Èze. Overnight stay in a hotel in Beaulieu-sur-Mer.

Hotel (example): Hotel Ibis Style

Today the trail leads you along the wild coastline of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. You walk through the charming Villefranche-sur-Mer and continue across the rolling landscape towards Nice. The dazzling azure color of the sea is a constant companion here, lifting your spirits all by itself – together with the natural, unspoiled surroundings you pass along the way.

Your hotel is located in the center of Nice, making it easy and convenient to explore the city on foot and find a great restaurant to round off your journey.

Hotel (example): Hôtel Campanile***

After breakfast, it is time to check out. If you have some extra time, we recommend a leisurely stroll through Nice’s old town, a visit to the flower market, and a walk along the Promenade des Anglais by the turquoise sea.
