Bering’s Algarve

Algarve has always meant a lot to Bering Travel. You could actually say that Algarve was where it all started for us. Back then, we arranged trips to Algarve focused on surfing, kitesurfing, diving and yoga, which today has also developed to include hiking and cycling.

We love Algarve because the region combines everything we believe creates the perfect active holiday: beautiful nature, authentic villages, fantastic food and a climate that invites adventure almost all year round. Here, you can hike along dramatic cliff coastlines, cycle through small Portuguese towns and enjoy the feeling of freedom with the Atlantic Ocean right beside you.

Fisherman’s Trail

Fisherman’s Trail is one of Europe’s most beautiful hiking routes and an experience many dream of trying at least once in a lifetime. The route follows Portugal’s wild Atlantic coastline through both Alentejo and Algarve with dramatic cliffs, small fishing villages, hidden beaches and fantastic views almost the entire way.

On a walking holiday along Fisherman’s Trail, you experience authentic Portugal at your own pace while hiking on narrow trails close to the sea and through areas where nature still feels raw and untouched. Along the way, cosy accommodation, fresh Portuguese food and the special feeling of freedom await – the kind that only appears when the next view is always just around the corner.

Why choose a holiday in Algarve?

Cosy coastal towns, delicious food and fantastic nature and coastline

Fantastic coastal landscapes

Algarve is known for its dramatic cliff coastlines, golden sandy beaches and views over the Atlantic Ocean that almost make your camera work overtime. Here, some of Europe’s most beautiful hiking and cycling routes await along the coast.

Authentic Portuguese experiences

Beyond the popular beaches, the Algarve is home to small fishing villages, local markets, and cosy cafés where the pace of life naturally slows down a little. It is exactly this relaxed atmosphere and Portuguese hospitality that make the region so charming.

Experience the Algarve at your own pace

On our walking holidays and cycling holidays in the Algarve, you travel independently and enjoy the freedom along the way. We take care of the hotels, luggage transfers, and easy navigation, so all you need to focus on are the views, the experiences, and perhaps one more pastel de nata.

Portuguese food full of flavour

The food in the Algarve is an experience in itself and the perfect ending to an active day. Here, you can enjoy freshly caught fish, grilled sardines, local wines, and small Portuguese specialities at cosy restaurants overlooking the sea – and yes, pastel de nata naturally tastes even better after a day on the walking trails.

Active holidays in the Algarve

The weather in the Algarve

Sunny days · Mild climate · Perfect for active holidays all year round

Spring

Spring is one of the best times to visit the Algarve if you are planning a walking holiday or cycling holiday. The landscape is green, the flowers are blooming, and the temperatures are pleasant for active experiences along the coast and through the small Portuguese villages.

Summer

Summer brings long sunny days, warm temperatures, and plenty of life along the coast. It is the perfect season to combine an active holiday with relaxing days at the beach, refreshing dips in the Atlantic Ocean, and cosy evenings at local restaurants.

Autumn

Autumn is a slightly overlooked season in the Algarve, but in reality, it is the time of year when the Portuguese themselves head to the region. The temperatures are still pleasantly warm, there are fewer tourists, and the sea is often warmer than during the summer months. It is truly an ideal season for an active holiday in the Algarve.

Winter

Winter in the Algarve is mild compared to the rest of Europe, and many days almost feel like a Scandinavian summer. This makes the region a popular choice for those of you looking for sunshine, fresh air, and active experiences during the darker months of the year.
