Itinerary
Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be met by your local representative, who will assist you with immigration, luggage and the necessary arrival formalities. Your journey begins in comfort, allowing you to relax without worrying about the practical arrangements after your flight.
You will then be transferred in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to your 5-star hotel in Cairo. The rest of the day is free for you to settle in, relax after your journey and enjoy the hotel's facilities.
After breakfast, you will meet your private, English-speaking Egyptologist, who will accompany you throughout the day's sightseeing. Your first stop is the Giza Plateau, where you will explore the iconic pyramids, the Great Sphinx and a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the three great pyramids. There will be plenty of time to explore the area and take photographs along the way.
After lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues to the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to some of Egypt's greatest archaeological treasures. In the evening, you will enjoy a dinner cruise on the Nile, featuring an international buffet, live music and traditional entertainment, including Tanoura dancing and belly dancing. Afterwards, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
The day begins in historic Cairo, where you will explore the Coptic part of the city with your private guide. Highlights include the Hanging Church, the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue – places that reflect Cairo's long and diverse religious history.
After lunch, the tour continues to the Salah El-Din Citadel and the impressive Mosque of Muhammad Ali, which rises high above Cairo. In the late afternoon, you will visit the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, where you will have time to wander among small shops, traditional crafts and cafés before returning to your hotel.
Early in the morning, you will receive a packed breakfast from your hotel before being transferred to Cairo Airport. From here, you will fly to Aswan in southern Egypt, where your experiences along the Nile begin.
Your first visit is to the Aswan High Dam, followed by Philae Temple, beautifully situated on an island in the Nile and dedicated to the goddess Isis. After lunch, you will board your 5-star Nile cruise ship. Later in the day, you will travel by motorboat to a Nubian village, where you will discover the area's colourful houses, traditions and culture. Dinner will be served on board in the evening.
The day begins very early with private transport through the desert landscape to Abu Simbel. Here, one of the greatest highlights of the entire journey awaits: the monumental rock-cut temples commissioned by Ramses II. The enormous statues standing in front of the main temple and the remarkable setting make Abu Simbel one of Egypt's most impressive archaeological sites.
After your visit, you will return to Aswan and enjoy lunch on board as the cruise begins sailing north. Later in the day, the ship docks at Kom Ombo, where you will visit the unusual double temple dedicated to the gods Sobek and Horus. Afterwards, the cruise continues towards Edfu, with dinner served on board.
After breakfast, you will visit Edfu Temple, dedicated to the god Horus and considered one of the best-preserved temples of ancient Egypt. Together with your guide, you will explore the impressive courtyards, columned halls and intricate reliefs, gaining a fascinating insight into the temple's history and significance.
Back on board, the cruise continues towards Luxor. Lunch is served as the landscapes along the Nile slowly pass by, and later the ship passes through the famous lock at Esna. In the late afternoon, you will arrive in Luxor, where your final dinner on the cruise awaits.
The day may begin before sunrise with a very special experience: a hot air balloon flight over Luxor, offering views of the Nile, the surrounding fields, mountains and impressive temple complexes on the river's west bank. The balloon flight can only take place if weather conditions permit and places are available on the day. Local authorities and operators make the final decision as to whether the balloons can take off.
The hot air balloon flight is entirely optional. If you prefer not to take part, the activity can simply be omitted, allowing you to start your day a little later. After breakfast, you will check out of the cruise ship and continue the day's programme with your private Egyptologist.
You will visit the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried in richly decorated rock-cut tombs. The tour continues to the impressive Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch, you will visit Karnak Temple, an enormous temple complex expanded by successive pharaohs over many centuries.
In the late afternoon, you will leave Luxor and travel by private bus to Hurghada on the Red Sea coast.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the marina in Hurghada, where a full day on the Red Sea awaits. You can choose between a boat trip with several snorkelling stops at coral reefs or an introduction to scuba diving with a professional instructor and all necessary equipment.
Lunch will be served on board, and there will be plenty of time to enjoy the sea and discover the fascinating marine life beneath the surface. In the late afternoon, you will return to the marina and be transferred back to your resort. Dinner will be served at the hotel in the evening.
The morning is free for you to enjoy the resort's beach and swimming pools. After lunch, the scenery changes dramatically as you leave the coast and head into the Eastern Desert.
Here, you will enjoy a quad bike safari through the desert landscape, followed by a visit to a traditional Bedouin village. You will be served Bedouin tea and have the opportunity to experience the local culture and the atmosphere of the desert. Later, you can enjoy the sunset over the landscape before the evening concludes with a barbecue dinner and traditional entertainment. Afterwards, you will return to your resort.
After many days filled with experiences, today is dedicated to relaxation. You can enjoy the resort's private beach, swimming pools and other facilities, or simply find a sun lounger and spend the day at your own pace.
In the evening, the journey concludes with a special farewell dinner at one of Hurghada's excellent seafood restaurants. Here, you will enjoy fresh fish and seafood overlooking the Red Sea before returning to the resort for your final overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will check out of the resort. Depending on your departure time, you will be transferred to Hurghada International Airport for your flight home.
If it is more convenient for your international flight connections, it is also possible to arrange a transfer to Cairo International Airport instead. This transfer is available at no additional cost, but please note that the drive from Hurghada to Cairo takes approximately seven hours. We therefore generally recommend departing from Hurghada whenever suitable flight connections are available.

On this tour, you can choose between 4-star and 5-star accommodation. Whichever category you choose, the itinerary remains the same, with overnight stays in Cairo, on the Nile cruise and in Hurghada.
If you choose the 4-star category, you will stay at 4-star hotels in Cairo and Hurghada and on a 4-star Nile cruise ship. If you choose the 5-star category, both the hotels and the Nile cruise are upgraded to 5-star standard. The main difference is therefore the level of comfort, while the itinerary and included experiences remain the same.
In the itinerary, you can see examples of the hotels we most often use on this tour. If the listed hotels are not available when we confirm the trip, we will use hotels of the same standard.
Breakfast is included every day throughout the journey. In Cairo, breakfast is served at the hotel, and on days when the programme starts very early, a breakfast box will be provided.
During the Nile cruise, full board is included with breakfast, lunch and dinner on board. In addition, the lunches and dinners mentioned in the itinerary are included along the way – including meals at local restaurants, a dinner cruise on the Nile in Cairo and a farewell seafood dinner in Hurghada.
During the stay in Hurghada, All Inclusive is included with breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as soft drinks, local beer and local wine. Soft drinks are also included throughout the journey, and bottled mineral water is provided during sightseeing.
Local specialities
Egyptian cuisine offers many simple and flavourful dishes. You may come across koshari, a classic combination of rice, pasta, lentils, chickpeas and tomato sauce, ful medames made with slowly cooked fava beans, and ta’ameya, the Egyptian version of falafel. Along the Nile and by the Red Sea, fish and seafood also feature naturally in the local cuisine, and many dishes are served with freshly baked bread, salads, tahini and a selection of small mezze dishes.
Visas to Egypt are not included in the price of this trip. Visas are arranged at the airport, so make sure to bring € 30 per person for this.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months upon entry.
We can also arrange visas for you. If you want us to do this, you can opt-in on the booking form.
We recommend taking out travel insurance that covers at least illness, accident, repatriation, lost holiday, luggage and liability. As a customer, you are responsible for taking out the necessary travel insurance to cover these costs.
Before taking out insurance, you should check whether you are already covered by travel or cancellation insurance through your home insurance company, credit card or similar - please note that there may be differences in insurance coverage.
When you book a trip with us, we plant a tree in Kenya.
Bering Travel partners with Growing Trees Network, which has been planting trees in Kenya since 2020 in collaboration with Seniorer uden Grænser (Seniors Without Borders). The trees are planted with small-scale local farmers in the Mount Kenya region, as well as at schools, where the fruit helps supplement students’ diets and is incorporated into their learning.
The trees are planted using the shamba method – a sustainable approach that combines reforestation with agricultural crops. This keeps the soil covered with vegetation throughout the year, helping to prevent nutrient loss and reduce erosion.
The contribution to tree planting comes directly from Bering Travel’s own earnings and is not added to the price of your trip.
This initiative is not intended as a carbon offset for travel, but as a way to make a positive contribution.
