From Slovenia’s most famous winter sports resort, your hike begins at the beautiful Lake Jasna, where crystal-clear waters mirror the surrounding mountains. The trail then climbs toward the Vršič Pass – Slovenia’s highest mountain pass – offering breathtaking alpine panoramas. On the descent toward Trenta, you can visit the source of the Soča River, where pure mountain water begins its journey as the turquoise river you’ll follow in the days ahead. A truly unforgettable stage through some of Slovenia’s most spectacular landscapes.

Today’s hike follows the Soča Valley with its many suspension bridges and stunning views over the turquoise river. Along the way, you’ll explore the impressive Soča Gorges – natural rock formations carved by the river over thousands of years. On warm summer days, a refreshing swim in the clear, cold waters of the Soča is simply irresistible! The day ends in Bovec – a lively hub for outdoor adventure and relaxation.

Hotel (example): Hotel Mangart

This stage is packed with highlights. First, you’ll visit the idyllic Virje Waterfall, hidden among lush greenery, and shortly after, the mighty Boka Waterfall – one of Slovenia’s tallest and most powerful. The trail continues through dense forest and along the sparkling Soča River, passing perfect swimming spots and scenic viewpoints, before reaching the charming town of Kobarid.

Hotel (example): Hotel Hvala

A short transfer takes you to the starting point in Drežnica. From here, you’ll hike up to the Italian Chapel at 1,220 m – a peaceful memorial site with panoramic views of the Soča Valley and the Kolovrat ridge. Continue across blooming alpine meadows to the high pastures of Kuhinja, where you can enjoy local specialties, before descending gently through forests and small villages. The final stretch follows the Soča River all the way to Tolmin.

Hotel (example): Hotel Dvorec

From Tolmin, the trail climbs through forests up to the Kolovrat ridge (1,200 m), where World War I trenches still bear witness to the past. From here, you’ll enjoy incredible views of the Julian Alps on one side and the Friulian plains on the other. After a short stop at Rifugio Solarie, you’ll cross into Italy, where a transfer will take you to Cividale – a historic town full of Italian charm.
