Itinerary

See the day-by-day itinerary below.

You'll arrive in Oropesa, which you can easily reach by train from Madrid. After arrival, explore this beautiful medieval town, get lost in its cobbled streets and discover its historical gems!

Your cycling adventure begins today! Through typical Mediterranean forest, your route takes you along the foothills of the Gredos Mountains, whose granite cliffs provide the perfect backdrop for the day and offer stunning views. Today's destination, Jarandilla de la Vera, offers architectural wonders such as the churches of San Agustin and Ntra. Señora de la Torre. Tonight you'll stay in a spectacular castle that once hosted Emperor Charles V for several months!

Today's cycling route takes you through peaceful countryside to the medieval market town of Plasencia. Since the time of the conquistadors, this walled city has been strategically located on the historic ‘Ruta de la Plata’. Palaces, ancestral homes and important religious buildings make up the architecture of this beautiful city, located on the banks of the Jerte River. Today you also have the option to extend the route and visit the beautiful 16th-century monastery of Yuste, set in a stunning oak forest.

As you cycle south towards the Tagus River, you'll come to the famous Monfragüe National Park, a well-known spot for all bird enthusiasts. The landscape here is a unique interplay between farmland and cork and oak trees. The farms in this area are dedicated to raising Spain's famous wild bulls and the black ‘iberico’ pig that gives us the delicious ‘jamon iberico’.

Today you'll cycle through beautiful Mediterranean forests to the town of Trujillo, surely one of Spain's finest gems! Several of Spain's most famous conquistadors, such as Hernan Cortes and Francisco Pizarro, lived in this region. The legacy of the conquest can be seen in much of Trujillo's perfectly preserved architecture and the impressive bronze statue of Francisco Pizzaro.

The scenery on this final day is a beautiful mix of small villages and impressive landscapes. When you reach the impressive town of Caceres, you'll be transported back in time as the architecture reflects a mix of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic and Italian Renaissance influences. Be sure to explore the narrow cobbled streets that wind and climb between ancient stone walls lined with palaces and mansions!

The journey is over and you will leave the hotel in the morning. If you would like extra nights in Caceres, you can select this on the booking form.
