The Panoramic route through Slovenia
From the crystal-clear lakes of Triglav National Park to the lively port city of Trieste, this cycling adventure takes you across two countries rich in natural beauty, culture, and culinary delights.
Your journey begins in Bled, where Slovenia’s most iconic postcard view – the turquoise lake with its charming island and cliff-top castle – sets the tone. From here, follow gentle rivers and peaceful valleys to Lake Bohinj, surrounded by the majestic Julian Alps.
As you ride through the Soča Valley, emerald-green waters, dramatic gorges, and stunning mountain scenery unfold around you. Across the border in Italy, the picturesque Friuli region awaits, home to the medieval town of Cividale and the rolling Collio hills, where wine and gastronomy are a way of life. Along the way, pass through vibrant Gorizia and the Slovenian Karst Plateau before reaching the Adriatic coast – and finishing your adventure in enchanting Trieste, where Italian charm meets the sea breeze.
Highlights of the tour
You’ll mainly cycle on well-developed bike paths and quiet country roads, with only a few short sections along busier routes. The terrain is mostly asphalted, with some shorter stretches on well-maintained gravel paths. The route is gently rolling to hilly, with a few longer climbs along the way. On three days, there are also optional, more challenging routes that take you over impressive mountain passes – perfect for those looking for an extra adventure.
