Every day there are stunning landscapes and countless cultural highlights in store: Oberndorf, home of the ‘Silent Night’ song, the impressive castle of Burghausen, the baroque town of Schärding. The Danube River winds its way elegantly through the Schlögener Schlinge, the Weinviertel (Austria's wine region) offers culinary delights.
The final leg of the journey takes you through the Wachau region and from Krems to Vienna by train, which almost feels like a waltz in itself.
Highlights of the journey
Concentrated culture and historic old towns line the stages from Mozartplatz in Salzburg to the Prater in Vienna. Take a peek inside the famous ‘Silent Night’ chapel in Oberndorf and stroll through the Baroque town of Grein.
Quiet paved cycle paths and small country lanes along the river beds of the Salzach, Inn and Danube. There are only a few short stretches of unpaved cycle paths. The best example of a perfect cycle path runs downstream along the Danube River and is called ‘Donauradweg’.
