The Route
On this tour, you’ll hike along an exciting combination of trails and natural paths that take you through open meadows, low shrubs, and rolling sand dunes. Most of the route follows the spectacular, cliff-lined coastal paths along the Atlantic, where you’ll almost constantly enjoy views of the endless horizon.
Along the way, the daily stages alternate between challenging stretches over rugged cliffs and more gentle, flat sections on well-maintained trails. There are short, sometimes steep ascents and descents that require good fitness and a willingness to push yourself – but the reward is breathtaking panoramas and a true sense of hiking joy.
You should be reasonably sure-footed, especially on the rockier sections, but the route is not technically difficult. It is well suited for those with some hiking experience who want to experience nature up close – without it becoming extreme.
Itinerary
You arrive in the lively and charming coastal town of St Ives, known for its creative atmosphere and stunning seaside location. The town’s many galleries and museums are well worth a visit, and the local pubs and restaurants offer delicious dishes made from fresh, local ingredients. Take a relaxing stroll along the golden sandy beach and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean – a perfect start to your hiking adventure.

The day begins with a transfer to the dramatic coastal area of North Cliffs. Here, today’s hike starts with a steep ascent up the cliff and continues around the impressive Godrevy Head. If you’re lucky, you might spot seals basking on the rocks below – or perhaps some of the area’s characteristic seabirds.
The trail continues through dune landscapes and leads you to the harbor town of Hayle, a perfect spot for a short break. From here, a beautiful walk awaits through a protected natural area, where peace and nature experiences go hand in hand.
Along the way, you visit the historic St Uny’s Church in Lelant, before following the St Michael’s Way pilgrimage route towards Carbis Bay. Today’s stage ends with a gentle stretch past charming houses with well-kept gardens, palms, and colorful flowerbeds – finally arriving at the idyllic Porthminster Beach in St Ives, where the Atlantic Ocean welcomes you once again with open arms.

Today’s hike begins with a circuit around the small headland known locally as “The Island” – even though it’s not actually an island! Here you’ll find a charming little chapel, perfect for a moment of peace and a great photo opportunity.
The route then continues past the dramatic cliffs of Man’s Head and Clodgy Point, before following the wild and beautiful South West Coast Path westward. Today’s stage presents a series of challenges with frequent ascents and descents, often along high, cliff-lined trails directly above the sea. Some sections are steep and require both focus and a sure footing.
The effort is more than rewarded with breathtaking views of both the coastal plateau and the endless Atlantic Ocean.
The stage ends in the small village of Zennor, where the historic church and the local pub make perfect spots for a well-earned break. After your visit to Zennor, a bus will comfortably bring you back to St Ives, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s experiences.

After breakfast, the journey resumes in Zennor, where you continue along the spectacular coastal path. Today’s stage features challenging terrain with cliffside trails, frequent small ascents and descents – but also some of the most breathtaking natural scenery of the entire hike.
During spring and summer, the coastline transforms into a colorful tapestry of blooming gorse and wild orchids, beautifully contrasting with the deep blue sea stretching endlessly to the horizon.
In the afternoon, you have the opportunity to make an exciting stop at Geevor Tin Mine, a former tin mine now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll gain a fascinating insight into Cornwall’s industrial history and the lives of miners working at the edge of the Atlantic.
The hike then continues along the so-called Tin Coast – West Cornwall’s historic mining region – before turning inland, following narrow country lanes and charming rural paths to the peaceful village of St Just, where the day concludes in tranquil surroundings.

The day begins with a beautiful descent through woodland areas and along a peaceful river that leads you back to the coast. Here, the landscape opens up with dramatic views of rocky islets, lighthouses, and old shipwrecks – elements that spark the imagination and recall the rugged history of the coastline. On the horizon, you may catch a glimpse of the Isles of Scilly, and it’s easy to see why this part of Cornwall’s coast is considered one of the most impressive.
Upon reaching Land’s End – the westernmost point of the UK – you are greeted by an iconic landscape and a charming local pub, perfect for a break with sea views. After all, what would England be without a cozy pub in just the right spot?
From here, the walk continues towards Porthcurno along a varied route that alternates between steep cliffs, hidden coves, and flowering, open coastal stretches. Along the way, you’ll pass a coastal observation tower, where you can learn about navigation, tides, stormy weather, and the local wildlife – all while enjoying stunning views of the sea and surrounding landscape.
Finally, you arrive at the white sandy beach and turquoise waters of Porthcurno Bay, feeling almost as if you’ve stepped into the Caribbean – a true hidden gem in the heart of Cornwall.
The day’s hike concludes here, and organized transport will take you comfortably back to St Just, where you can relax after one of the most spectacular stages of the journey.

The day begins in idyllic Porthcurno, and today’s walk takes you across the ridges that shape the southwestern corner of England. You follow paths surrounded by fragrant flowers, shaded woodlands, and open coastal landscapes, with breathtaking views of small, picturesque coves unfolding before you.
Soon you reach the small fishing village of Penberth Cove, which feels almost frozen in time – a perfect spot for a short break and some memorable photos. Continuing towards Lamorna Bay, you’ll experience true Cornish hospitality – a charming ice cream stall awaits, where you can treat yourself to a local specialty and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Next, you follow the coastal path through the enchanting Kemyel Nature Reserve, where forest and sea meet in perfect harmony. The route leads you to the charming village of Mousehole, a little gem with colorful fishing boats in the harbor and narrow streets that feel like something out of an illustrated storybook.
Pause at a local café or pub and soak in the unique atmosphere. From here, if you wish, you can take a comfortable shuttle bus to the lively coastal town of Penzance, where your walking holiday concludes in beautiful surroundings.

On your final walking day in Cornwall, you have several exciting options – depending on whether you prefer a relaxing outing or one last challenge.
You can choose a gentle, atmospheric stroll along the promenade to the small town of Marazion, from where you can either cross the narrow tidal causeway or take a water taxi to the legendary island of St Michael’s Mount. The island is home to an impressive Norman castle that dramatically towers over the bay. Depending on the tide, the island may be completely separated from the mainland or accessible via the narrow stone path – an experience that makes the visit even more magical!
If you’re looking for a slightly longer and more active finale, you can follow St Michael’s Way – the historic pilgrimage route stretching from Cornwall’s south coast to the north. Here you leave the coast behind and move inland through beautiful, green countryside, with paths that take you across fields, meadows, small country lanes, and open pastures with horses and cows.
Along the way, you’ll pass the impressive viewpoint of The Steeple – a massive stone pillar rising above the landscape, visible from afar. From here, you get a breathtaking view of both the surrounding countryside and the coast.
Finally, the route descends toward the railway, from where you can easily take the train back to Penzance and end your journey at your own pace.

Cornwall is known for its mild and pleasant climate, making it an ideal destination for hiking throughout much of the year. Thanks to its location on the Atlantic coast, the region rarely experiences extreme temperatures – summers are usually warm and comfortable, while winters remain relatively mild. Spring and late summer are particularly popular for walking, when the landscapes are in full bloom and the daylight hours are long.
However, the coastal winds can be strong, and the weather can change quickly, especially in elevated areas. A light rain jacket and sturdy footwear are always recommended – and with the right gear, even a rainy day becomes part of the adventure. In return, you’re often rewarded with spectacular cloud formations, dramatic lighting, and the distinctive clarity of light that has attracted artists to Cornwall for generations.
