- Coastal and mountain walking on the GR221 -
Mallorca is much more than a popular island for bathing tourists. It is the largest of the Balearic islands, and offers stunning scenery, with dramatic cliffs that form a great contrast between the lush vegetation of the island, and the green-blue sea. The Tramuntana Mountains stretches through the island and rises at the highest point to 1,447 meters (4,747ft) .above sea level. Via hikingpaths and the pilgrimtrail the route leads you over rocks and cliffs decorated with sunlit oak trees. It continues through olive groves to picturesque villages, with their small estates and castles. Again and again you will enjoy breathtaking views over the sea and surrounding islets. Sun, sand and water is the base for the relaxed atmosphere found in the small Mallorcan coastal towns.
