Breathe deeply into your belly and exhale. The journeys you can read about on this page are about you, your body, wellbeing and balance. Yoga can do so many things and you probably already know that it is thousands of years of wisdom aimed at leading to a healthy body and mind.
Here you can see a list of the yoga holidays you can go on through Bering Travel. There are trips for beginners as well as for advanced practitioners. Yoga is a great form of exercise that everyone can join in with. We offer trips to many excellent yoga destinations, including Greece, Portugal and Sri Lanka.
Yoga can be practised anywhere from a hillside overlooking the Amalfi Coast to the gym or even in front of the TV in your living room. Still, we'd argue that you simply get more out of it when you combine yoga with travelling the world. And why is that?
It's perhaps easiest to explain with a picture:
You've gotten up in the night, taken the train to the airport, waited and eaten a deadly boring bun from the airport canteen, been served "cardboard food" on the plane and now you've landed at your destination - we don't need to name a specific destination here, because it applies to them all.
From the moment you step off the plane, you can feel it. The air is just different here, the smells are different from the first moment and you notice it because you are on a journey and your mind is open. That's why travel is great wherever you go. It's not really the destination that matters so much. You're away from everyday life and on the journey there your mind has opened up and now you can really embrace everything new. Everything is more intense when you travel. The food tastes of more, the nature is more beautiful and the yoga affects you even more than it used to because your open mind allows you to listen even more to yourself and your body.
At Bering Travel we distinguish between a Yoga holiday and a Yoga Retreat. Basically, they are the same, but we have chosen to call the individual trips "Yoga Holidays" and the group trips "Yoga Retreats".
The individual yoga holiday
On the individual trips you can travel almost anytime and the trip is not dependent on whether there are other participants. It could be our yoga holiday in Zanzibar, which is perfect if you're travelling alone.
Individual travel therefore means that there can be a varying number of other guests on your trip when you are away. There are typically different events organised each week (such as communal dining), but of course it's completely optional if you want to take part in that sort of thing.
On our individual yoga holidays, we typically only list the type of yoga taught at the destination and not specifically which yoga teacher is teaching. The reason is that sometimes there is a change in who is teaching. However, you can be sure that competent yoga teachers will be teaching on your yoga holiday wherever you go.
Yoga Retreat in Groups
Here we are talking about group trips with specific named yoga teachers and where the yoga retreat itself is an expression of the yoga teacher's vision for the trip. A Yoga Retreat is usually a more intense experience in terms of yoga and socializing with the other participants. For example, there is typically a lot more yoga included than on a yoga holiday.
As our Yoga Retreats are group trips, they usually depend on a certain number of participants before they are finally confirmed. Please feel free to contact us if you want to know how many are registered for a particular Yoga Retreat. We aim to confirm all trips at least two months before departure.
Active holidays at their best. It's actually amazing how well yoga and surfing go together. Surfing is all about balance, control and agility and yoga supports those things really well. We have a number of trips where we combine yoga with surfing and what they all have in common is that they are excellent places to go if, in addition to an active holiday, you want to meet lots of new, nice people with similar interests.

Here is another example of two activities that support each other perfectly. Being able to control your movements, breathing and balance is essential when diving and therefore yoga is the perfect complement. On our Diving & Yoga trips we usually include two dives and one yoga session per day and the latter is of course optional.
You can go on a yoga holiday in Greece, Portugal, Tanzania or any other exciting yoga destination. There are plenty of options, whether you're a beginner or a practitioner, and now it's just a matter of finding the yoga holiday that suits you best.
