In this exciting walking holiday, we have put together the best of the islands Tenerife and La Gomera. You will explore unique landscapes, charming villages, and a rich cultural heritage. From Tenerife's impressive Montaña de Guajara to the lush laurel forests and idyllic valleys of La Gomera, you will experience the natural and cultural treasures of both these Canary Islands. The trip is designed with two delightful walks on Tenerife and four on La Gomera, and we have made arrival and departure easily accessible by including round-trip airport transfers from Tenerife, as well as the ferry crossings between Tenerife and La Gomera.
Discover the beauty of Tenerife and La Gomera with highlights like the "Paisaje Lunar," a moon-like landscape, and Montaña de Guajara with views of El Teide. Explore lush valleys and charming villages like La Laja and Agulo, surrounded by palm groves. Enjoy spectacular viewpoints like Mirador de Abrantes and experience the unique laurel forest in El Cedro. Conclude the journey with a beautiful walk from Las Hayas to Valle Gran Rey that beautifully encapsulates La Gomera's natural beauty and culture.
The tour follows hiking trails of varying terrain. There are wide and stable forest paths, winding mountain trails, paths with sandy surfaces, and paths with rocky sections and stones. Especially on La Gomera, the trails will be more uneven and quickly changing. The tour requires a secure footing, and we recommend the use of trekking poles to navigate the ascents and descents more easily. The day trips take from 4.5 to 6 hours.
Treking poles can be rented (for pick-up at the first hotel). We need to know this at least 3 weeks before departure. The poles can be added on the booking page.

There will be a welcome meeting with our local representative, who will go through the week's programme with you and provide you with all relevant descriptions.
The Adventure begins with a delightful walk in the heart of Vilaflor, where you will explore one of Tenerife's most unusual and fascinating landscapes - the "Paisaje Lunar." This breathtaking moon-like landscape is created by strange and fragile rock formations that resemble tower spires. These formations are the result of thousands of years of erosion in the ancient volcanic terrain. The hiking route follows the circular path known as PR-TF 72, which offers a pleasant hiking experience.
You will be transported to Las Cañadas del Teide National Park, from where you will climb Montaña de Guajara, the second highest point on Tenerife, which rises 2,718 metres. This is the best viewpoint towards El Teide and Pico Viejo. The circular hiking route stretches for approximately 8 km and takes you up the southern side of Las Cañadas, and along the way you will enjoy wonderful views of the neighbouring islands: Gran Canaria, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma. If you wish, you can extend the hike by an extra hour to explore the Roques de García area.
The day starts with a transfer to the harbour town of Los Cristiano, from where you take the ferry to nearby La Gomera (between 45-60 min).
On arrival in La Gomera, a transfer will pick you up and take you to the Degollada de Peraza viewpoint, from where you can enjoy impressive views of La Gomera's lush landscape. From here, a short, beautiful hike awaits you to Roque Agando - a remarkable rock formation that epitomises the natural landscape of La Gomera. From here you walk to the charming village of La Laja. It has an authentic rural atmosphere and is surrounded by beautiful mountains, lush valleys and, not least, idyllic palm plantations.
You will spend the night in Hermigua - a picturesque town known for its charm and relaxed atmosphere.
The day starts with a transfer to El Contadero. From here the hike begins and the route is more or less a constant descent towards the El Cedro Valley, through one of the most beautiful laurel forests on La Gomera which is also a declared part of UNESCO. You continue your journey towards Hermigua, passing the characteristic Pedro and Petra cliffs that, like two dramatic teeth, adorn the landscape. Along the way, you can admire the rich flora and fauna found in this area and enjoy the beauty of the scenery.
The hike ends back in Hermigua.
You will start with a short transfer to Agulo, one of the most beautiful villages on La Gomera. From here, your hike through the northern part of La Gomera begins. You will pass the Mirador de Abrantes, a spectacular viewing platform that hovers over the landscape. You will also hike on trails through impressive landscapes and with breathtaking views all the way to the neighbouring islands of La Palma and Tenerife.
After the hike, you will take the public bus back to Hermigua.
The day begins with a transfer to Las Hayas, a picturesque village located high up on La Gomera. From here you start your hike, which takes you through the village of Arure and along GR 132 down to the village of Valle Gran Rey. Along the way, you will pass through the valley of the same name, which is idyllic and filled with lush palm plantations. The hike is a unique opportunity to soak up the last of La Gomera's natural beauty and culture. At the end of the walk, you'll be driven to the harbour in San Sebastián to catch the ferry to Los Cristianos on Tenerife, departing around 17:30.
You will spend the night in Los Cristianos, Tenerife.

Overall, the climate on both Tenerife and La Gomera is very suitable for hiking and outdoor activities. It's important to be prepared for different weather conditions, especially in mountainous areas where the weather can change rapidly.
Below, you can read more about the climate on the two Canary Islands.
The climate in Tenerife varies significantly depending on which part of the island you are in, due to its diverse terrain. Here are some of the general features of Tenerife's climate:
Mild Climate: Tenerife enjoys a mild climate year-round, making it a popular destination for both summer and winter holidays. Summer temperatures typically range from 20-30 degrees Celsius, while winter temperatures usually fall between 15-25 degrees.
Low Humidity: The island generally has low humidity, contributing to its pleasant climate. This makes Tenerife an ideal place for outdoor activities such as hiking.
Coastal Climate: The coastal areas of Tenerife are characterized by a subtropical climate with mild winters and warm summers. This is where the most popular tourist areas like Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos are located.
Mountain Climate: Since Tenerife is home to Spain's highest peak, Mount Teide, you'll experience climate changes in mountainous regions. Here, temperatures can be colder, and snowfall can occur in winter.
Wind: Some parts of Tenerife, especially the north coast, can experience strong winds, particularly during the summer. These winds can affect sea conditions and weather, so it's a good idea to take them into consideration if you plan water activities.
Rain: Tenerife has several microclimates, and some areas receive more rainfall than others. The northern parts of the island are usually more humid and receive more rain, especially during the winter. The tour here takes place on the south side of the island, which typically sees less rainfall.
The climate in La Gomera is comfortably subtropical and relatively stable throughout the year. Here are some of the key features of the island's climate:
Mild Temperatures: La Gomera generally experiences mild temperatures year-round, ranging from 20-30 degrees Celsius in summer and 15-25 degrees in winter. This makes the island an ideal destination for those looking to avoid extreme temperatures.
Low Humidity: The island has low humidity, which means that the weather usually doesn't feel overly humid. This makes it comfortable for exploring the island on foot.
Seasons: La Gomera doesn't have the same distinct seasons as some other places. This means you can enjoy outdoor activities year-round.
Rain Showers: The island has two main rainy seasons: a winter rain period from October to March and a summer rain season from June to August. These rain showers are typically short and heavy, especially in mountainous areas.
Sunny Days: La Gomera is known for its many sunny days, making it a popular destination for sunbathing and outdoor activities.
Wind: The island can experience wind, especially in mountainous areas. This can impact the weather and comfort during hikes, so it's a good idea to check the weather forecast before embarking on a hike.
