- An active tour of Egypt -
You can't go to Egypt without being overwhelmed by its impressive history and on this trip, that's exactly what's on the agenda. You'll start by "landing" in Egypt, where you'll relax and experience two amazing dives in the Red Sea (if you're up for it - scuba certification is not required). You'll be taken by private transfer to Aswan, where an adventure of a lifetime begins. From Aswan, you'll sail along the Nile and visit places like Kom Ombo, Edfu, Collosi of Memnon and the Valley of the Kings. The Nile cruise concludes in Luxor with a visit to the Temple of Karnak before you are driven back to Hurghada. On the last day of the tour, you go on a Quad-bike safari (can be changed to scuba diving) and enjoy life in the land of the sun.
About the trek
It is important to note that the walking on this tour is wandering around between the various archaeological sites and ancient ruins along the Nile. Although there are many hours on your feet each day, the hike is easy and everyone can join in.
You arrive in Hurghada, where you are met at the airport and transferred to your 5-star hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Please note that on some trips it may be necessary to move the start of the Nile cruise to coincide with the correct boats and departures.
We think you can't visit Egypt without trying diving in the Red Sea. Today you will be picked up at the hotel at 8:30 (the exact time will be given to you on arrival) and taken to the marina where the boat will set sail. During the day you will have two dives at some of the best dive sites in the area. The boat returns to Hurghada around 5pm, after which you will be taken back to your hotel.
Note: If you don't feel like diving, this can easily be replaced with other day trips in the Hurghada area.
After breakfast you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to Aswan, where your Nile cruise will start. The drive takes approximately six hours. Upon arrival in Aswan, you will be driven to the Aswan Dam and the "Unfinished Obelisk". The great dam is impressive and it is truly amazing that it was created without the use of today's technology. The history of the obelisk is also quite charming. It was supposed to be 42 meters high, but it was never finished because of a single crack.
After lunch on board the cruise boat, you will be taken to the impressive Temple of Philae. What makes this monument special is that the temple was actually dismantled and moved during the construction of the dam and the island on which the temple originally stood is now completely covered in water. If you feel like staying at the temple until the evening, you can watch the light show.
After breakfast you get off the ship and visit Kom Ombo. Here you can see the famous temple dedicated to Sobek and Haroeris. Afterwards, the trip goes back to the boat and you can have lunch on board. Later in the afternoon you arrive at the Temple of Eduf, one of Egypt's best preserved buildings. It was made to pay homage to the god Horus and still has many of the original colours and decorations.
After breakfast you spend the morning visiting the western bank of Luxor. First stop will be the Colossi of Memnon, which honours Pharaoh Amenhotep III and was built around 1350 BC. After the statues, the tour continues to the Valley of the Kings, where you will visit three tombs. When you go there, you will be surprised at how clearly the colours are on the walls and that in some places it looks like it was painted yesterday.
After lunch you will go to the Temple of Hatshepsut, which was a female Pharaoh. It is quite impressive as you walk down the steps to the temple. In the evening you can choose to stay on board the boat or explore the city in the evening. For example, we recommend going to the Temple of Karnak to see the light show.
After breakfast on board, visit the eastern bank of Luxor, where you will find the Temple of Karnak. The street with sphinxes on each side and the great hall are famous all over the world.
After Karnak temple you will be driven back to Hurghada where you will stay overnight in a 5 star hotel. The drive takes approximately 4-5 hours.
Today there is only one thing on the agenda and that is a Quad-bike safari in the desert near Hurghada. During the trip you will drive to a small oasis where you will be served lunch and can try riding a camel. The tour takes about two hours in total. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing at the hotel.
Note: If you prefer to dive this day, the Quad-bike Safari can be modified at no extra cost. In this case you will get 2 dives including all equipment and lunch on the boat.
The week is over and it's time to go home. You'll be taken to Hurghada airport for your flight home.
