The climate in Austria

The climate in Austria is ideal for hiking. Of course, it can rain occasionally, but in general the climate is pleasant in this mountainous country. Austria usually offers sunny spring days with pleasant temperatures. Summer can be very hot in Austria, especially in the eastern part of the country. Fortunately, there is almost always a lake where you can cool off. Autumn is also quite pleasant and perfect for hiking. Don't forget your rain gear in autumn, though. After all, green forests and lush meadows need a rinse now and then.

 

Austria's famous food

Granted, not all famous Austrian dishes were invented in Austria. Influences from Bohemia, Bavaria, Italy and Hungary have helped shape and transform Austrian cuisine into what it is today. Of course you know delicacies like wienerschnitzel, gulash, ham with cabbage and 'dumplings' (a kind of large dumplings) and the famous Sacher Torte. But have you ever tried Tafelspitz (boiled beef with horseradish and vegetables), heard of Topfenknockerln (sweet 'dumplings') or tasted Innviertler Bratknödel ('dumplings' filled with meat)?
