Diving in Egypt

Welcome to the magical world beneath the surface of the sea, where Egypt's diving destinations offer an unrivalled experience of colour, life and mystery. With its crystal clear waters and incredible marine biodiversity, Egypt is one of the world's most sought-after destinations for divers from all over the globe.

Egypt has some of the best and most beautiful dive sites in the Red Sea, in fact, in the entire world. From the coral reefs of Sinai to the stunning coasts of the far south. That's why Bering Rejser can book a trip to Egypt with distinctive diving on the programme. Here you can explore Egypt's many different areas, experience unusual wildlife and have the experience of a lifetime.

World-famous dive sites

The well-known areas such as Ras Mohammed National Park and Tiran have gained a lot of attention and attract thousands of divers and snorkellers every year, but even here there are areas with largely untouched reefs. Egypt has more than 1500 km of coastline, so there is certainly no shortage of dive sites. Many divers flock to the northern diving areas of Egypt, but more and more people are beginning to discover the dive sites in southern Egypt. Here you'll find warm, clear water and lush, stunning coral gardens that are free from pollution. Imagine any beautiful coral and you'll almost always find it in the Egyptian Red Sea. The fish are just as incredible as the corals and on every dive, you'll see many different and exciting types of fish, making it more like diving in an aquarium than anything else.

The journey begins at the Red Sea, where a paradise of coral, tropical fish and marvellous sea creatures awaits. The vibrant coral lagoon at Sharm el-Sheikh invites adventure as you glide through the calm waves and enter a world where time seems to stand still. Colourful parrotfish, majestic turtles and delicate seahorses dance harmoniously around you and you become one with the vibrant underwater landscape.

As you explore Dahab, a whole other adventure unfolds. The Blue Hole, with its mysterious blue abyss, lures divers with its legendary beauty and challenges. The descent into the depths brings you close to the deep sea drop-off, where it's important to respect nature and diving rules.

At Abu Dabbab near Marsa Alam, another unique encounter awaits - with the peaceful sea cows, also known as dugongs. These gentle giants move gracefully in the clear water, adding a touch of magic to the diving experience. It's a rare chance to interact with these majestic creatures and understand their fragile ecosystem.

Wreck diving is another unforgettable experience that Egypt offers. Ras Mohammed National Park is home to many impressive shipwrecks that rest on the seabed and have evolved into artificial reefs that attract a rich diversity of marine life. Divers have the opportunity to explore these historical relics and become part of their fascinating history.

But diving in Egypt isn't just about admiring the colourful life under the sea. It's also a journey of self-awareness and humility as you recognise the beauty and fragility of nature. It's a chance to connect with the vibrant heart of the earth that lies hidden beneath the waves.

Perfect climate for diving

Egypt's climate is almost like a long summer, with an annual rainfall of less than 5cm on average. There are blue skies and blazing sunshine all year round. Temperatures range from 20 degrees in winter to 50 degrees in summer. Clouds are therefore rare and occur almost exclusively in winter, which runs from December to February. So you can dive all year round in Egypt, but the most pleasant weather for diving is spring, summer and autumn.

Underwater, summer continues. The water temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees in the middle of winter and summer temperatures can reach as high as 30 degrees. Visibility averages around 20 metres, but can easily reach 30-40 metres at certain times and in certain places. A few spots can be subject to strong currents, but otherwise the currents are relatively moderate.

So if you're looking for adventure, wonder and a deeper connection to nature, Egypt is the perfect place to explore. Be mesmerised by the precious moment when you step into the underwater world and become one with the eternal blue. Diving in Egypt will undoubtedly leave you with unforgettable memories and a desire to return to this underwater paradise again and again.
