Day 1 Arrival in Cetara

Upon arrival in Cetara, check into the hotel, where the receptionist will hand out the welcome package and information about the bikes. Dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant.
If arriving early you can take can take a short bike ride to the nearby village, Vietri Sul Mare, famous for its colorful ceramic production. Or you can take a stroll through Cetaras historic center, which is within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 2 From Cetara to Sorrento

- Cycling distance: 70 km - Ascent: 950m./3,120ft. - Duration (breaks excluded) about 4 hours.

On your first cycling day, you will start from the hotel in direction of Amalfi, following the beautiful winding costal road. Proceed to Capo d'Orso, the highest point of the route with a panoramic view of the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri. A refreshing descent leads you through citrus groves, forests and dramatic cliffs to Maiori, the largest town on the coast. You continue around the hillside to Minori, a small attractive town with a beautiful seafront promenade. Continue on the short ascent to Castiglione, the little whitewashed town of Atrani and magnificent Amalfi. Here you can stop and see a few of the main attractions in town. Or enjoy an Italian gelatto near the beach. Leave Amalfi behind and go on the second half of the dramatic 'Strada Amalfitana'. Shortly after Amalfi you will pass the picturesque sea cave 'Grotta Smeralda' (open to public) and the spectacular fjord of Furore, a deep gorge leading into the sea. Pass through Praiano and Positano, the most beautiful – and charming Italian - of the small towns along the Coast. After Positano the coast turns more wild and rough, and a good ascent will take you up to the Colli di San Petri, beautifully situated on the ridge separating the Amalfi Coast from the rest of the Sorrento peninsula.
You are now cycling on a plateau, rising high above the coast to the point of the peninsula called Punta Campanella. From the very last village, named Termini there are spectacular views of the coast, sea and the island of Capri.
You must now cycle along the north coast, with views to the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius, through Massa Lubrense to the seaside city of Sorrento, beautifully located on top of the tall, vertical limestone cliffs rising up from the sea.
Check into your hotel, and then go explore the historic center of the city, with its beautiful gardens and villas not to mention the old city walls. Dinner is at own expense and with the wide selection of restaurants there is plenty to choose from.

Day 3 From Sorrento to Amalfi

- Cycling distance: 65 km – Ascent: 1,500m./4,920ft. - Duration (breaks excluded): about 4 hours.

Today you will be cycling at the base of Mt. Faito from Sorrento towards Castellammare di Stabia from where you start the ascent to Agerola, situated on the mountain plateau dividing the peninsula into a Sorrento- and an Amalfi side. Cycle along the quiet country sideroads to Piano di Sorrento, where the ascents up Mt. Faito's slopes begins. From the village of Arola, the road winds through the hilly terrain before leading you down to Vico Equense, a seaside village at the coast of Sorrento. Give yourself a brief break here, have a beverage and enjoy the view over the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius rising in the background. From Vico Equense, you will cycle on the main road until reaching Castella di Stabia. From here you will turn up into the valley of Agerola, known for its production of mozzarella cheese. Enjoy your lunch in the mountain village of Bomerano and continue to the Fausto Coppi monument at the viewpoint.
From here you will begin an amazing descent down to the Coast of Amalfi. The stretch offers several switchbacks, made famous in the dramatic 'battle' between Coppo and Bartali in the Italian road race Giro d'Italia. The difference is that they took the road in the opposite direction, and climbed up the incredibly steep ascents from the coast towards Agerola! Just after the village of Furore you will turn swing away from the main road and start the ascent to Pogerola, perched on a cliff from where you can look down to Amalfi. After enjoying a final break, a cup of coffee and the splendid view, you will cycle back to the main road and follow it for the last few kilometers down to Amalfi.
After a quick fresh up at the hotel, you will have the rest of the day to stroll through the city alleys and visit the Cathedral (Duomo). Also visit the paper museum that offers an interesting insight into the centuries-old local paper production. Also remember to taste the locally produced lemon liqueur 'limoncello'. In the evening you will go on a private boat for a restaurant in a nearby bay. After dinner you will be sailed back.

Day 4 From Amalfi to Salerno

- Cycling distance: 66km – ascents: 1,600m./5,250ft - Duration (breaks excluded): About 4 hours.

On the last cyling day of the trip, you will ride from Amalfi up to the beautiful village of Ravello and Tramonti and back to Salerno. From Amalfi, you turn inland near Castiglione and start the ascent of the steep, winding road running along a narrow valley until reaching Ravello. In addition to a long history and many medieval monuments, Ravello has a magnificent view of the coast and beautiful villas with stunningly beautiful and peaceful gardens. After visiting the Cathedral, you can visit the Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. The views from here are fantastic surroundings to enjoy your lunch in, or you can continue inland to the Valley of Tramonti , where a good picnic spot can easily be found. From Tramonti cycling back to the coast and the village of Maiori where you after a quick coffee break at the wide beach promonade, can continue on to Salerno. On the way you will pass Capo d'Orso and Cetara. Just before Vietri sul Mare, you turn inland and up to the village of Raito. From here continues to ascent to the ancient monastery of Cava dei Tirreni. The monastery is located in a small village above the town of Mt. Finestras slopes, and after a short visit here go down town and enjoy a drink at one of the many bars in the town square before beginning the last ascent to Maddalena and Croce. On the way down to Salerno, you will pass the pretty medieval castle of the city. Make a brief stop here, before cycling into the city and finally arriving at the hotel.
After a quick fresh up it is time for a walk through the historic town and maybe a little shopping before finding a good place to enjoy your dinner and celebrate your last evening at the beautiful Amalfi coast.
