- Rialto, Dante and Ponte Vecchio -
These are two of Italy's most famous cities, the start and end of this cycling holiday respectively, and between them you'll pass through far less well-known and therefore even more interesting landscapes of kiwi and peach groves, melon plantations, sunflower and vineyards, chirping birds and smiling fishermen waving from their houses on stilts along the canals. Look forward to the many exciting destinations far from the popular tourist spots. Here you'll have the chance to sip a cappuccino in a cosy café by an idyllic piazza and listen to the locals discuss art, culture, sport or politics with eager gestures (and maybe even join in the discussion). Join us for a wonderful holiday!
The first four days you'll cycle on flat terrain. On day 6 there are 3-4 smaller hills on the route, and on day 7 there are two short climbs and one long descent. The cycling is mainly on embankments and small roads with limited traffic. Almost all roads are paved, and only very short sections are on busier roads. In other words, it's a cycling holiday for everyone.
The hotel is on the mainland, just outside Venice, with excellent bus links to the famous lagoon city. Your holiday starts with a grappa tasting not far from St Mark's Square.

In the morning there is information about the bike tour, which starts on the bike path over the Ponte della Libertà (Liberty Bridge) to Venice. Then it's off by ferry to the Lido, via Pellestrina with its impressive sea views, to the peaceful little town of Chioggia, reminiscent of Venice's seafaring heyday and home to traditional seafood restaurants where you can stretch your legs. Accommodation is in Chioggia/Sottomarina, where there is a wide sandy beach.
Distance: approx. 35km

Today's route takes you back to the River Adige along very little traffic, through lush fields, melon plantations and idyllic villages to the charming little town of Adria. It was founded here by the Etruscans for its proximity to the Adige and Po rivers, but today it's the branching canals, narrow streets, cosy cafés and welcoming inhabitants that attract tourists.
Distance: approx. 50km

A short section of today's route takes you along Italy's longest river, the Po, before following one of its tributaries, the Po di Goro, through the delta towards the sea. You may choose to take a dip in the Adriatic Sea before continuing to the idyllic town of Comacchio, where grand palaces, beautifully decorated churches and a long line of bridges bear witness to the wealth that came with salt production in the past.
Distance: approx. 65km

The first half of the day's cycling goes through the Delta del Po Nature Park, which has unique plant and animal life. Cycling on a dam, it feels like riding directly through the water with flamingos just a few metres away. After a short ferry ride (the ticket costs about 2 euros and is not included in the tour price), you reach the Adriatic Sea, where the bike ride continues along wide beaches to the port city of Ravenna, which offers exciting art and culture.
Distance: approx. 65km

The landscape changes with the rolling hills at the foot of the Apennines, but first you come to the enchanting little town of Faenza on the border of the great plains. World-famous ceramics are produced here and you're welcome to watch the artisans decorate the pieces. Now it's not far to the medieval town of Brisighella, below the Rocca Veneziana and Torre dell'Orologio, where you can relax in peaceful, idyllic surroundings.
Distance: approx. 55km

The day starts with a wonderful train ride through the Apennines to Borgo San Lorenzo. There are two short climbs on today's route, but the reward awaits in the form of a stunning descent via Fiesole to Tuscany's world-famous capital, Florence.
Distance: approx. 35km + train ride
