Bike and Boat tour - Island hopping in southern Dalmatia, Croatia

With the premium boat MS Amore or MS Azimut you sail from island to island in the South Dalmatian archipelago. Along the way you will experience
secluded coves - perfect for a cooling dip in the Mediterranean directly from the boat. By bike you will explore the winding routes of the beautiful islands close to the mainland coast. Along the way, you will pass the most beautiful beach in Croatia: Zlatni Rat, "the golden cape", located on the southern coast of the island of Brač. You' will explore the UNESCO cities of Dubrovnik and Trogir, and cycle through the vast forests of the island of Mljet and if you're a red wine lover, you should enjoy a glass of Dingač from the Pelješac peninsula. In other words, you can expect a lot of culture and nature on this bike cruise through southern Dalmatia.

Your boat will follow you like a hotel from island to island, and the crew will show you secluded coves where you can swim. Cycling is usually on the winding paths along the coast before you return to your ship in the evening, and if you feel like skipping a day of cycling, just enjoy the day on board.

The route

Cycling requires at least a basic level of fitness, which you should have achieved by occasional or daily cycling. The routes take you easily up to an altitude of about 100-300 metres above sea level. You will cycle between 20 and 40 km each day through hilly and mountainous terrain. You will have plenty of time to complete each ride. Sometimes there will be steeper inclines, but of course it is okay to walk the bike over these if necessary. The roads are mostly paved and there is little traffic outside of holiday periods. It is your choice whether to cycle on your own with maps and information material, or to join the cycling guide who rides with you.
In Croatia, everyone under 18 is required to wear a bicycle helmet - but we strongly recommend that everyone, regardless of age, does so.

Great things about this tour

MS Amore

On this trip in the South Dalmatian archipelago of Croatia, MS Amore has room for 40 passengers.
This motor yacht is from 2011 and therefore relatively new. On board there are 19 cabins, offered in different versions. Most are double cabins with either two single beds, or one queen-size bed ("frensh bed" approx. 140 cm wide). A few cabins are sold as single rooms and triple cabins.
MS Amore has a fantastic sundeck of 250m2. Here you can enjoy the Croatian sun to the full, as well as the views of land and sea, which alone are worth the experience.

Cabins on MS Amore

MS Amore has a total of 19 exterior cabins, each about 14 m². The main deck is divided into two, locally referred to as the middle and upper decks. On the upper deck there are six double cabins - four with 2x single beds and two with queensized double bed (140cm wide). On the middle deck there are also four double cabins with 2x single beds and one with queensized bed (140cm wide). The last eight cabins are located below deck. Here are four with single beds, two with queensized beds (140cm) and two are arranged as triple cabins with a queensized bed plus a single bed. The portholes in the cabins below deck are the only ones that can be opened. All other cabins do not have windows that can be opened.
All 19 cabins have en suite bathrooms with shower and toilet and individually controlled air conditioning.
Please note: The allocation of cabins takes place upon arrival. It is possible to pre-book a cabin on either the lower deck, the main deck or the upper deck, but it is not possible to define a specific cabin.

Common areas on MS Amore

One of the highlights of the MS Amore is the 250 m² sun deck. Here you can stay comfortably on one of the sun beds or garden chairs and enjoy the warm temperatures. If you need to cool down after sunbathing, you can take a shower directly on the bathing platform, and should you need a break from the heat, there is also an air-conditioned lounge on the sundeck.
The sun deck has space for bikes and 25 sun loungers, 20 garden chairs and tables/benches for 20 people. With only 40 passengers, socializing is easily accessible, with the sundeck as a gathering place.

Bike and boat tours in general
  • For a stress-free start to your trip, it is recommended to arrive at the starting point early on departure day or even in the evening of the day before.
  • The individual return journey will take place on the last day of the trip.
  • The indicated cycling distance is an approximation and may differ from the actual distance.
  • This journey is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

Further important information about your trip by bike and boat:

  • There is always the possibility of changes to the schedule and programme. In the event of extremely high or low water levels AND/OR weather challenges, the shipping company reserves the right to alter the itinerary to the best of its ability/experience (water levels and weather are force majeure).
  • Please also be aware that your boat is both your "holiday hotel" and a working machine, constantly moving with engine power, even at night. Particularly noise-sensitive guests are advised to bring earplugs.
  • Please note that storage space in the cabin is very limited. In your luggage you should pack good rainwear (jacket and trousers), a helmet, sun hat and sun cream as well as sports shoes.
Tipping the crew

Tips for the boat crew are not included in the price.
It is customary to tip the crew of the boat at the end of the trip. The level is about 5€ from each participant. per day. On a trip like this of 7 days duration, about 35€ per person would be appropriate (remember that the Croatian currency is Kuna).
There will typically be an envelope in the cabin for this purpose, or information will be provided at the end of the trip.

Travel Insurance In general we recommend that you are covered by a good travel insurance covering at least Medical Expenses, Illness, Personal Accident, Baggage and Repatriation. The customer is responsible to take the necessary travel insurance that covers these costs. Bering Travel, or our local partners, do not have any responsibility for our customers not being covered by a necessary travel insurance. You have to arrange your insurance in your home country.
