The route
The route is easy to moderate and is mostly flat, particularly once you reach the Garonne Canal. The first part of the journey takes you along dedicated cycle paths and quiet country roads through the vineyards and rolling landscapes east of Bordeaux, with a few gentle ascents and descents along the way. From La Réole onwards, the route largely follows the canal on well-surfaced cycle paths, making for relaxed and comfortable cycling. Daily distances range from approximately 37 to 67 km, and the terrain is well suited to hybrid bikes and e-bikes.

Your cycling holiday begins in Bordeaux, where you check in at your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure. Take the opportunity to explore the historic centre, stroll along the Garonne or enjoy one of the city’s many cafés and restaurants.
Bordeaux is well known for its elegant architecture, lively squares and rich cultural heritage, making it a rewarding place to begin the journey. You stay overnight in a 4-star hotel in Bordeaux.
Hotel (example): Hotel Des 4 saeurs
After breakfast, you leave Bordeaux by bike and soon join the Roger Lapébie cycle path, named after the French cyclist who won the Tour de France in 1937. The route follows a dedicated cycle path through the countryside east of Bordeaux, passing vineyards, small villages and the historic town of Créon.
Further along, you cycle through Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, a medieval bastide founded in the 13th century and still marked by its old gates and fortified layout. The surrounding area forms part of the Entre-Deux-Mers wine region. You stay overnight in a charming guesthouse with a swimming pool in Camiran.
Hotel (example): Chez Mme Duranteau
Today you leave Camiran on quiet country roads and cycle towards La Réole, an attractive historic town on the banks of the Garonne. The first part of the stage takes you through gently rolling countryside before you reach the canal.
From La Réole, you join the peaceful cycle path alongside the Garonne Canal. The scenery becomes flatter and the cycling increasingly relaxed as you follow the water towards Le Mas d’Agenais. Tonight you stay in a charming guesthouse set in a traditional former farmhouse with its own pond.
Hotel (example): Au fil du canal
Before setting off, it is worth taking a look at the Romanesque church in Le Mas d’Agenais. You then continue along the Garonne Canal, where most of the day is spent cycling on gentle, flat paths with plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the surroundings.
Along the way, you pass the small historic town of Damazan, founded in the 13th century. The final section continues alongside the canal to Sérignac-sur-Garonne, where you stay in a 3-star hotel housed in a former monastery, with a swimming pool and tennis court.
Hotel (example): Le Prince Noir
You continue along the Garonne Canal towards Agen, where one of the highlights of the day is the impressive Pont Canal d’Agen, which carries the canal high above the River Garonne. There is time to stop in Agen and explore the historic centre before continuing by bike.
The route then follows the canal towards Moissac, a town known for its outstanding Romanesque heritage and its connection to the Camino de Santiago. The abbey and cloister form part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing associated with the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. You stay overnight in a 3-star hotel in Moissac.
Hotel (example): Chambres d'hotes Le Prevote
Your final cycling stage follows the Garonne Canal south-east towards Toulouse. The route remains largely flat, allowing you to settle into a steady rhythm and enjoy one last full day of cycling beside the water.
Eventually, you arrive in Toulouse, known as La Ville Rose – the Pink City – because of the distinctive terracotta bricks used throughout its historic centre. If you have rented bikes, they are returned in Toulouse. You stay overnight in a 4-star hotel in the city.
Hotel (exampel): Hotel Royal Wilson
Your holiday comes to an end after breakfast and check-out. If your travel plans allow, it is well worth spending some extra time exploring Toulouse before continuing your journey.
The city is home to an atmospheric historic centre as well as important cultural landmarks, including the Basilica of Saint-Sernin. Toulouse is also closely connected with the Canal du Midi, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The price is based upon two people sharing. It is also possible travel alone in a single room. Simply choose "1 person" in the booking form and it will automatically add the single room surcharge.
On this tour you will be on your own supplied with maps, route descriptions and luggage transfers. That means that your time is your own and you have plenty of time to enjoy the stages in your own pace.

The booking process
When you book the trip, we will begin booking hotels and arranging all the practical aspects of your tour. This process typically takes 5–8 working days, but in some cases it may take longer for certain bookings. If you arrange your own transportation, we recommend waiting until we have confirmed your booking before making any arrangements.
Dates
If you can select a date in the trip calendar (in the booking form), then this is a possible start date. We regularly update our trips with sold-out dates; these dates will then appear in red/grey and cannot be selected.
On all our cycling holidays it is possible bring your own bike but it also possible to rent a bike for the tour. The bikes you can rent are all perfectly suited for the tour and the local terrain and all bikes are perfectly maintained. If you want to rent a bike on your holiday, then you select this on the booking form.
Equipment included in the bike rental:

Roadside assistance
All bikes are equipped with puncture resistant tyres which means that it is virtually impossible to puncture. No rule without exceptions, so should you experience a punctured tyre then you can quickly fix it by using the tools in the service-set. If the damage is greater than a simply puncture then you simply call us and we make sure that your bike is fixed or you will be supplied with a new bike as quickly as possible.
Insurance is included
Insurance against theft and damages are included in the bike rental. Should you have any problems of this nature then all you have to do is to let us know and we will supply a new bike as quickly as possible. Naturally, careless or mischievous behavior is exempt from this.
The flights to/from Bordeaux are not included in the price. You can easily find a suitable flight via a flight booking engine such as Momondo or Skyscanner.

Please note that we add a handling fee of 45 euro to each flight and this means that the flight will be cheaper if you book it yourself.
On this journey, you stay in a combination of carefully selected hotels and charming guesthouses. In Bordeaux and Toulouse, accommodation is in 4-star hotels, while in Sérignac-sur-Garonne and Moissac you stay in comfortable 3-star hotels. In Camiran and Le Mas d’Agenais, you stay in characterful guesthouses, giving the journey a nice mix of city hotels and more intimate countryside accommodation.
The exact accommodation may vary depending on availability, but the standard will remain comparable. Some smaller guesthouses and independent hotels in France choose not to participate in the official star-rating system; this does not necessarily reflect a lower level of comfort or quality.
Breakfast is included every day and is served at your accommodation before you set off on the day’s cycling. Dinner is included on Day 2 in Camiran, while dinners on the remaining evenings are not included, giving you the freedom to choose from the restaurants and cafés in the towns where you stay.
Lunch is not included. On some days, you may find cafés or restaurants along the route, while on others it is a good idea to buy provisions in the towns or local supermarkets before setting off. You can also ask your accommodation whether they are able to prepare a packed lunch for you. Drinks are not included.
Local specialities
This journey takes you through one of France’s great food and wine regions. Around Bordeaux, look out for the famous canelé, a small caramelised pastry flavoured with vanilla and rum, as well as the wines of Bordeaux and Entre-Deux-Mers.
As you approach Toulouse, the cuisine becomes increasingly influenced by the traditions of south-western France. Local classics include cassoulet with white beans, duck confit and Toulouse sausage, as well as regional charcuterie and other duck specialities. Toulouse is also known for its violet-flavoured sweets and delicacies.
Luggage transfer is included on this tour. Upon arrival at the first hotel you will be given luggage tags along with the rest of the welcome package. You fill out the luggage tags and put them on your bags where they will remain for the duration of the tour.
Your luggage is picked up from the hotel lobby around 9am every morning and will arrive at your next hotel at 6pm at the latest (often long before that). If there are any special exceptions to the luggage transfer you will be notified upon arrival.
Luggage transfer includes one bag per guest and the bags can weigh 15kg each.

Upon booking
Immediately after booking this trip, you'll recieve a pre-booking-email where you can get a complete overview of your booking. Once the tour is confirmed you get a confirmation email from us along with practical information about the tour.
One month before departure
You will receive a hotel list and final travel documents.
Upon arrival at the first hotel
You'll receive the welcome pack, which contains everything you need for the trip. There will be route descriptions, maps, luggage tags, specific local vouchers and if you have rented a bike, they will also be handed out at the first hotel. The documents are in English.
Notice: On some tours it is necessary to either print the documents yourself or to bring them electronically.
This tour has difficulty grade 2.
Grade 2
For cyclists who like hilly terrain and a bit longer distances. You cycle on good roads, which usually don’t have much traffic. The distance is between 35 – 60 km or 20 – 38 miles. If you are capable of riding a bike and you have a normal good health, you should not worry about going on these tours.

The trees are planted using the shamba method – a sustainable approach that combines reforestation with agricultural crops. This keeps the soil covered with vegetation throughout the year, helping to prevent nutrient loss and reduce erosion.
